The Draft of Peacemakers PART 2: Purging Gideon’s Army

A few days ago I wrote Part 1 of a two-part series called, The Draft of Peacemakers PART 1: Arise in Valor. I referenced a word that I had shared from the Lord last week that you can read about in the post titled, I Will Give You Victory in Your Darkest Hour. Below is the word He spoke:

“Many have given up and lost hope. They have handed over their call to govern and occupy until My coming due to intimidation from the enemy outside their camp. They have quit advancing and ceased taking action for fear of what might cost them. They have relented building My Kingdom and My plans because of the threats against them and the demands of their own to close their mouth, lay down their weapon, and bow their head in defeat.
As much as it grieves Me, I am thinning out Gideon’s camp. I am weeding out all who would seek honor to their own name and the praise of men to their own accord. I am rooting out all who are motivated by and have given themselves over to the spirit of fear and pride. There is no room in My army of end-time Burning Ones for these.
I am cleansing the ranks and establishing those with faces like flint who will not break rank or deviate from their appointed position and assigned task. They will not relent in advancing, nor hunker down in fear and defeat; they know that I have never lost a battle. They shall scale mountain peaks and walls ransacking the enemy’s camp as I send forth My Spirit and angel armies ahead of them. Everything stolen shall be recovered as they plunder the enemy’s camp.
Surely, nothing shall remain untouched by these as they carry within them My righteousness, justice, and fire! Like a wildfire they shall advance until they have established My Kingdom in the furthest reaches of the earth! All that is against Me will be burned up in My cleansing fire and abundant life shall spring forth from the ashes.”

In the previous post, I focused on Gideon and you can read more about it in PART 1. Today I am going to share about what came of Gideon’s obedience and of an army of Burning Ones. To recap, the people of God were suffering under the attack and oppression of the Midianites who would blaze through and steal, consume, and pillage everything in their path and would not move on until there was nothing left. The Israelites were starving and they were being robbed of all they had, most had hunkered down in fear. They cried out to the Lord for deliverance and He sent a prophet to declare His Word and remind them of His command to worship Him alone, that they were worshipping idols and in direct disobedience.

Jesus appeared to Gideon, a simple man, threshing wheat in a winepress. He called him to be the deliverer to the people of God.

God in this hour is calling forth Mighty Men and Women of Valor to arise out of the winepress of incubation that they have dwelt in, and to be Peacemakers to a broken and lost people. He is calling forth those who will tear down the demonic altars in their families, their regions, in their nation, and across the earth; and to erect altars to the Lord in those very places! It is these Peacemakers whom God has called to beckon The Church to get out of her trenches of defeat and to rise up and advance His Kingdom across the earth!

‭‭Judges‬ ‭6:34‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Then the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon with power. He blew a ram’s horn as a call to arms, and the men of the clan of Abiezer came to him.

Gideon assembled an army to take on the enemy. However, only a number of clans answered the call. The rest never even showed up for the enlistment. Over the past year in particular, we are seeing the shaking and sifting of The Church and we are beginning to see the separation of The Church, those who never show up when the trumpet sounds to fight; and we are witnessing the emerging of The Body of Christ, those who have been equipped and prepared for the war in the secret place.

Judges 7:2-4, 7-8 NLT
The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to Me that they saved themselves by their own strength. Therefore, tell the people, Whoever is timid or afraid may leave this mountain and go home.” So 22,000 of them went home, leaving only 10,000 who were willing to fight. But the Lord told Gideon, “There are still too many! Bring them down to the spring, and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not.”

The Lord told Gideon, “With these 300 men I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites. Send all the others home.” So Gideon collected the provisions and rams’ horns of the other warriors and sent them home. But he kept the 300 men with him. The Midianite camp was in the valley just below Gideon.

<<There’s no room for fear in the Lord’s Army! pride finds no place to land amidst the Peacemakers!>>

God is weeding out His Church and separating the wheat from the chaff, those who are willing to call themselves His, yet unwilling to obey His call. Those that emerge shall be those who have set their faces like flint on His face and their mission…and they shall not fail!

Judges 7:9-11 NLT
That night the Lord said, “Get up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them! But if you are afraid to attack, go down to the camp with your servant Purah. Listen to what the Midianites are saying, and you will be greatly encouraged. Then you will be eager to attack.” So Gideon took Purah and went down to the edge of the enemy camp.

<<There’s chatter of the lord’s victory in the enemy’s camp! fear found no place in a peacemaker’s jurisdiction, it turned on itself!>>

Judges 7:13-15 NLT
Gideon crept up just as a man was telling his companion about a dream. The man said, “I had this dream, and in my dream a loaf of barley bread came tumbling down into the Midianite camp. It hit a tent, turned it over, and knocked it flat!” His companion answered, “Your dream can mean only one thing—God has given Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite, victory over Midian and all its allies!” When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship before the Lord. Then he returned to the Israelite camp and shouted, “Get up! For the Lord has given you victory over the Midianite hordes!”

<<gideon’s army does the unexpected, foolish thing! Obedience looses confusion and chaos in the enemY’s camp!>>

Judges 7:19-22 NLT
It was just after midnight, after the changing of the guard, when Gideon and the 100 men with him reached the edge of the Midianite camp. Suddenly, they blew the rams’ horns and broke their clay jars. Then all three groups blew their horns and broke their jars. They held the blazing torches in their left hands and the horns in their right hands, and they all shouted, “A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!” Each man stood at his position around the camp and watched as all the Midianites rushed around in a panic, shouting as they ran to escape. When the 300 Israelites blew their rams’ horns, the Lord caused the warriors in the camp to fight against each other with their swords. Those who were not killed fled to places as far away as Beth-shittah near Zererah and to the border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath.

<<The light shines the brightest in the darkest of the night!>>

Just when things would appear hopeless, God will show Himself mighty and victorious through that which doesn’t make sense. He will strike when the enemy least expects it…it’s what He did when He died on the cross and arose, keys in hand, defeating death and the grave!

He is calling forth those who will go right up to the enemy’s camp and stand in bold faith! Gideon’s army hid the strength and size of their fire and unleashed it at the appointed time; smashing the vessels meant to contain it, never to be concealed again! The Burning Ones are arising and the Angel Armies that are on their side far outnumber what stands against them!

WATCH AND SEE WHAT GOD WILL DO!!!

I ask you to examine yourself and your position.
•Are you one that has been shaken in the circumstances that have occurred this past year and find yourself hunkered down in fear, pride, or unbelief?
•Have you allowed the Lord to sift you in the shaking and to purge everything that does not reflect Him?
•Do you lack the peace of the Lord? Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. The peace He gives surpasses all understanding and guards your heart and mind in Him alone. You will not be moved by what you see, but will see and discern what the Spirit is doing and saying. You are not called to be a peacekeeper, a counterfeit of being a Peacemaker. Peacemakers establish His Kingdom and drive out the darkness.

Lord, we choose to set our gaze like flint upon You and You alone. It does not matter the size of the enemy; fear, pride, and unbelief must bow their knees to the Commander of the Lord’s Army, Yahweh!!! Forgive us for seeing with our natural eyes instead of allowing the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to be our guides. Uproot anything that would seek our gaze above You, and establish us in Your place of peace as we look to You, Lord of Hosts! Enable us the grace to stand and advance when all others flee; and stir up the fire of the Holy Ghost in us, to establish Your Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven, in Jesus’ mighty name!!!
