Day 4 – Follow Me
Key Verse –
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
“Just follow me, I’ll take you there.” Your friend says this, climbs into their car and the race is on. Desperately you try to keep up with the speeding vehicle in front of you. You don’t want to lose him because your phone is out of battery and you forgot your charger. You have no way to get to your destination except by keeping up with your speed demon friend.
In a situation like this, you might be worried that it could be dangerous to try to keep up with your friend or that they might lose you in traffic. This is something you never have to worry about when following Jesus. He is always with you, and when He calls the you to follow Him, He walks right with you making sure you know which way to go.
Do you feel like you are walking in darkness in some area of your life?
Are you lacking hope or see no end to your troubles?
When you follow Jesus, He promises that He is with you and that you have the light of life. No matter how dark or hopeless it may seem, Jesus is with you to help you. If you will follow Him, He will lead you into life, light, hope, and so much more!
Prayer – Jesus, help me to see past the darkness and trouble around me and look to you. Help me to follow you no matter what life brings. Help me to follow you and know that I have you, all the light, life, and hope I will ever need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Challenge –
Ask Holy Spirit what is the next step you need to take to follow Him. Often, you will already know what you need to do. Write it down and decide to do it. Ask a friend or leader to help remind you to take the action you are supposed to. Step out and follow in action as soon as you are able.
