Simple Obedience Changes History

Currently, I am in preparation to go out for another full day of ministry. I am sitting outside taking in the gentle breeze, carrying with it the refreshing power of Holy Spirit. Our schedules here are mostly packed full morning to one o’clock in the morning the next day, for the Spanish culture naturally goes late into the evening. I am so glad to be surrounded again in the culture of community and relationship.

As I sit here, I find myself dwelling upon all that God has already revealed and done during our time here; pondering on the heaviness of His Spirit’s Presence the last three days. Three nights ago, we attended a prayer meeting at Pastor Abel’s church in Elche in preparation for Operation Andrew, the outreach plan set in place the last time the team visited. The goal of the operation is to bring the churches here together and the members locating lost people that they know, and they began praying for their salvation after last visit. This trip’s focus will be on going out and preaching the Gospel to these lost ones and we believe that after the almost nine months of sowing prayers into their salvation, that we will see an abundant harvest come forth.

As we worshipped, prayed and interceded, the Presence of God invaded mightily. We all got up and shared words the Lord had given us for what He was preparing to do and it was obvious that God is doing a new thing, raising up a mighty army in this land. I shared the words the Lord had given Jeremiah and I when we last came in 2014, found in The Mighty Wind and the Dry Bones, as well as the word the Lord gave me in September of last year, and the word He gave me in prayer for this trip, of which I shared here To Spain for the Glory of His Name. The power of God fell in great proportion and the place was electric with expectation for a great outpouring of Holy Spirit to fall upon the land and people.

The following morning, an unusually strong wind came through that was so powerful and everyone everywhere were saying that winds like this have not been seen before and it was strange. The winds of the Spirit came sweeping in through the land, carrying upon it the Word and power of the Lord. That evening, we hosted the pastor’s rally where we gathered the pastors we will partner with to carry out Operation Andrew. There was an incredibly overwhelming heaviness of the kabod Presence of God manifesting in the atmosphere as we worshipped together.

One evident thing is the majority of the churched people we are encountering are all foreigners. Various Latin American, European, African, Russian, and Chinese families were called from the Lord to come live here, plant churches, and minister to the Spanish people. Spain sowed the Gospel into the nations long ago, and though it has predominantly lost it’s first love, the fruit of it’s labor is returning.

Yesterday, my partner in crime this week, John and I paired with our host Pastors that we will be partnering with throughout the week. We travelled to Torrevieja, a small city south of where we are in Elche, and ministered in their church. I gave the prophetic word that the Lord had given me for Spain and had shared two evenings prior at Pastor Abel’s church. John preached on the importance of the Gospel being the main thing and the reason for which we do all things. We must not be selfish and keep this Good News of salvation to ourselves but must be intentional everywhere we go to share it and give it out!

Afterwards, we were had a few hours to kill before we went to our lunch appointment at one of the church member’s house; so Pastor Elsa took us to the Marina to show us around. The place was filled with tourists and internationals on holiday. I felt impressed upon by the Lord to keep an eye out for treasures hidden in plain sight, people to minister to. I noticed a number of people with crutches and a wheelchair bound person missing an arm. Then an elderly gentleman passed by me who was limping severely and made eye contact with me. I knew he was the one I was to speak to so I turned around to follow him and stop him to talk to him. It wasn’t until then that I realized his right leg was about six inches shorter than his left, and that was why he was walking strangely. I stopped him and asked if he spoke English, but he spoke Spanish; so in my best ability, of which might equate to a three year old, I asked him in Spanish if I could pray for Jesus to heal him, for I had noticed he was walking with a limp. He couldn’t quite understand me, so I motioned my friends over and using Elsa’s phone for translation, typed in what I tried to say so that she could communicate to him. He immediately turned us down and said that God can’t heal his leg. She explained God’s healing power yet he refused. In one last attempt I said that I have seen Jesus heal people and grow their leg out many different times when praying for them. He still refused and did not want prayer either, saying he was fine with his leg and content; so we blessed him in Jesus’ name and went on, praying for his healing on our own.

This was not a failed attempt, sometimes people don’t want Jesus no matter what you do, so you do as Jesus said: shake the dust from your feet and go on. We prayed for him anyway, for nothing can stop us from doing so and the obedience will be rewarded.

We went from there to our lunch appointment at Ilse and Edison’s. They’re Columbian and he was a top chef there so we were blessed with a well-rounded meal of steak, eggplant, potatoes, salad, and paella, a rice dish with fishtail, clams, and mussels. That’s what you call suffering for Jesus, though I had to pray for help eating the ocean life since I do NOT do fish. When you live on the Mediterranean, it’s anticipated that fish will be included; just like being unexpectedly served whole fresh giant anchovies, bones and skin included…what does one do? You say a little missionary prayer, “Lord, wherever You lead me, I’ll follow; whatever You feed me, I’ll swallow.”

We spent a few hours there, then picked up Pastor Pablo and went to our first visit, Ilse’s daughter and son-in-law, Elkin, who moved here two months ago from Columbia. They were opposed to the Gospel but allowed us to come. Upon arrival, Angie answered the door in pain, holding her neck. We sat with them and I shared a picture of my family, for they had two little ones Azariah and Elam’s age. They said we could share with them, so John began to present the Gospel through the tool we are using here, the Evangecube. After doing so, we asked them if they would like to receive Jesus and have eternal life with Him in Heaven and they both accepted Jesus there on the spot!

We prayed and I asked Angie about her neck. She had a pulled muscle and couldn’t turn her head, in a lot of pain. I asked her if I could pray for her for Jesus to heal her neck; just as He took away our sins when He died on the cross, so He took away our sickness and pain and bore it on the cross. She said, “yes” and after praying, half the pain was gone and she had more mobility. I asked if I could pray for her again, for even Jesus prayed for someone more than once before they received total healing; she agreed. Pastor Pablo interjected and asked to share a testimony. He said he had come in with back pain and as I was praying, he felt a hand reach forth and grab the pain out of his back and he was completely healed! God used it to increase faith in the room and Angie said as I prayed for her again, she felt heat where my hand was. She then had almost full range of motion and the pain was nearly gone!!! Praise the Lord!

I ask that you be in prayer with us for this family that God provide work for Elkin, as they have one month left before their visa expires to find work, or they will have to return to Columbia. Also, please pray that the Lord would continue to minister to them, grow them, place them well in the Body of Christ here, and that they would develop hunger for Him, His Word, and discovering their roles in the Family of Christ.

Please pray for us as well, as we go out today for two more visits, that hearts would be receptive, fertile soil for the Gospel to be planted; and for any more a God-appointments along the way.

Be encouraged dear brothers and sisters, there is nothing special about us. We are simple people being simply obedient to simply Go as He said, and to share the simple Gospel! You can do this wherever you are, simply ask Him to give you His eyes, heart, and Word and be intentional to step outside of your comforts and Go! Be so bold as to ask Him to make you uncomfortable!

Proverbs 28:1‬ ‭(AMP‬‬)
“The wicked flee when no one pursues them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.”
