As the time draws nearer for us to go out into all the world, God continues to speak His truth to our hearts and souls. God is continuing to speak to us all of the time and we must be careful to hear and obey what He is saying. Today, as I was reading in Romans 2, God was speaking to me about my actions.

Your actions always reveal your heart, in one way or the other! Each time you act, these things are telling you something. The things that you say or do will either convince others of the Truth or convict you of a wrong heart. The actions of two people may be the very same act, but the difference is always the heart behind it, or the intention in the doing the action. Time will always prove the intention behind it. You might be able to lie to yourself, but God is not fooled by a good act motivated by a wrong heart! Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. He rewards you for the heart behind the act and not just the act itself.

If you look at things this way, any time you do something good with a wrong motive, no matter how good the act may be, you are not doing it for God. Whatever you are doing it is really for yourself (perhaps it is to make yourself look or feel better or you are being deceived) or it is for others to see. You are doing these things for others to recognize you and this is a selfish motive. James 4:1-3 confirms this in that God answers us and gives us what we ask for except when our hearts are amiss or we ask out of our own selfishness.

I do not want you to ever be fooled by the enemy! God is not fooled by our actions, but always looks at the heart. When He sees your acts, is He seeing your selfishness or is He seeing a pure heart with a desire to please Him? Ask Holy Spirit to reveal Truth to you about every action that you may do it for the glory of God!

If this is your prayer for your life as it is mine, join me in praying something like this:
“God help me to never do anything out of my own selfish desires, motives, or ambitions. I never want to be deceived into doing anything for the wrong reasons. Help me to live in Truth and selflessness as long as I am alive!!! Make me more like You than ever before! Give me Your heart of love, compassion, and service that I may serve in the same way you did! Help me to become more like you every day in every way!!!
